What you share in therapy is confidential, with a few legal exceptions, such as concerns about imminent safety, suspected abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult, or when disclosure is otherwise required by law.
For tweens and teens, I work to balance privacy with parent involvement. I want young clients to have a space where they feel comfortable being honest, while also keeping parents informed about overall progress and recommendations when appropriate. If there are safety concerns or information that must be shared by law, I'll communicate that with both the client and their parent or guardian.
We'll review confidentiality and answer any questions during our first session.

Most clients begin with weekly sessions. Meeting consistently at first helps build momentum, establish our therapeutic relationship, and make steady progress toward your goals. As things improve, we may transition to meeting every other week or less frequently, depending on your needs and what feels most helpful.
-
Most therapy sessions are about 50 minutes. This length allows us to explore what's most important while leaving a few minutes as a buffer if we need extra time to wrap up or address unexpected issues.
-
The length of therapy varies from person to person. Some clients come for a few months to work through a specific concern, while others benefit from longer-term support over years.
Ending therapy is often a gradual decision rather than a single moment. It may be time to consider wrapping up when you feel you’ve met your goals, symptoms feel more manageable, and you’re able to use the skills and tools you’ve built outside of sessions with more confidence.
We’ll regularly check in about your progress, and the decision to end therapy will always be made together based on what feels supportive and sustainable for you.
